CALL FOR WORKSHOPS AND TUTORIALS

We are pleased to invite submissions for Workshops and Tutorials at Supercomputing Asia 2025 (SCA25), a premier event uniting the High-Performance Computing (HPC) community in Asia and beyond.

As the landscape of HPC continues to evolve rapidly, we are seeking Workshop and Tutorial proposals that address the latest advancements, emerging trends, and practical applications in the field.

Call For Workshop

SCA25 welcomes the submission of Workshop proposals. Workshops will be held at the same venue of the SCA25 conference in Singapore, which runs from 10-13 March 2025.

Through technical presentations, invited talks and/or panels, we expect that workshops will provide a great opportunity to establish wide and deep discussions among attendees in established HPC or related topics of interest.

Workshops can be setup as an invited session or a peer-reviewed one.

We encourage submissions on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Exascale Computing: Approaches, architectures, and applications driving the next era of computational power.
  • Artificial Intelligence and HPC Convergence: Integrating AI/ML with HPC for enhanced data analytics, simulation, and innovation.
  • Quantum Computing: Practical implementations and HPC integration in the quantum era.
  • Sustainable and Green Computing: Innovations in energy-efficient HPC architectures and eco-friendly computing practices.
  • Neuromorphic Computing
  • Etc.

     

This is an opportunity to influence the future of HPC by imparting your knowledge to a diverse audience, ranging from beginners to seasoned experts. We welcome proposals that are interactive, hands-on, and offer deep dives into these critical areas.

 

Workshop Proposal Submission Format

Each WORKSHOP proposal must include the following information:

 

  1. Title, Abstract and Workshop Website / Webpage 

Title: Provide a concise and descriptive title for your Workshop.

Abstract: Include a brief summary (up to 300 words) that clearly outlines the workshop’s focus, objectives, and key takeaways. The abstract should be written in a way that attracts attendees with varying levels of expertise.

Workshop URL: Indicate Workshop website / webpage URLs for reference.

 

  1. Workshop Leader and Presenter Information

Names and Affiliations: List the Workshop Leader and all presenters, including:

  • Full names
  • Titles / Designation 
  • Affiliation / Company / Organisation
  • Contact email 

Bios: Provide a short biography (100-150 words) for Workshop Leader and each presenter, highlighting relevant expertise, past experiences, and accomplishments in the field of HPC.

 

  1. Target Audience

Audience Level: Specify the intended Workshop audience (e.g., beginner, intermediate, advanced) and any prerequisites or required background knowledge.

Workshop Audience Size: Indicate the expected number of participants and any limits on the workshop size.

 

  1. Workshop Structure

Duration: Indicate whether the tutorial is intended to be a half-day (3-4 hours) or full-day (6-8 hours) session.

Outline: Provide a detailed outline of the workshop content, including topics covered, estimated time allocation for each section, and any hands-on activities or demonstrations.

 

  1. Publications procedure and Workshop Programme Committee (if any) 

Process: Indicate interest for Workshop to publish and be part of the proceedings. The Workshop should include the intended publications procedure and peer-review process.

Programme Committee: Include a list of the Programme Committee if there is peer-review for the Workshop.

 

  1. Relevance and Impact

Current Trends: Explain how the tutorial aligns with current and emerging trends in HPC.

Practical Applications: Discuss the real-world applications and implications of the tutorial content, and how it can be applied in research, industry, or education.

 

  1. Past Experience (Optional)

Previous Tutorials: If you have conducted similar tutorials at past conferences or events, please provide details, including feedback or evaluations if available.

 

  1. Submission Format

Document Format: Submit your proposal as a single PDF document.

Workshop Facility and Logistics

The workshop will be held in-person in Singapore during the SCA25 Technical Conference, which will be held in conjunction with the SupercomputingAsia 2025 (SCA25) event. SCA25 will prepare one physical room for each accepted workshop, and the capacity of each room is approximately 50 seats. The time slot for each workshop is approximately 210 min (3.5 hrs). Workshop duration can be discussed further with Workshop Chairs if needed. A projector and screen will be available in each workshop room. The final decision about the facility and logistics will be announced in the beginning nearer to the conference date.

 

Workshop Organiser’s Tasks

Each accepted organizer is responsible on the successful workshop management including the following tasks:

  1. Create a website of the Workshop to show the place, the time and the program of the Workshop.

  2. Send call for papers to appropriate mailing lists.

  3. Manage full reviewing process of submitted papers.

  4. Attend the workshop in person and manage the Workshop.

  5. The publication of the papers and materials of the Workshop should be arranged by the Workshop organiser.

 

Publications (if any)

If Workshop Organisers are interested to publish in ACM-related publication (i.e. ACM ICPS), you will need to satisfy the following conditions:

  • Workshop papers must be peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers.

  • Workshop organizers need to form their own programme committee (PC), and the list of PC members are to be listed on the workshop’s public webpage.

  • Workshops need to organize and prepare their own system for reviewing submissions (e.g. EasyChair, Linklings, etc.).

  • Workshop organizers must collect all camera-ready papers from the respective workshop and send them to the Proceedings Chair of SCA25 Technical Conference by 24 January 2025 (AoE).

If your Workshop would like to pursue this course, please include the following items in your proposal:

  1. Previous submissions and acceptance at ACM-related workshops (if applicable)

  2. Latest list of program committee (name, email and affiliation)

 

Information About Fees

All Workshop participants/attendees will have to register as a delegate under the SCA25 Conference registration, which will enable them to access the respective Workshops well as the SCA25 conference activities. There is no option of a “Workshop Only” registration. The SCA25 organizers will not be able to provide any financial support such as registration fee for the conference or travel for the workshop organizers.

 

Call for Tutorials 

SCA25 welcomes the submission of Tutorial proposals. Tutorials will be held at the same venue of the conference in Singapore during the conference dates, 10-13 March 2025. SCA25 is the ideal platform to share your expertise and engage with a global audience of researchers, developers, and practitioners.

Tutorial content should also consider future trends and the evolving landscape of the field. Such criteria will help ensure that tutorial submissions are of high quality and valuable to the SCA conference attendees.

Tutorial submissions should demonstrate:

  • Alignment with SCA25 Conference Theme covering topics that are relevant to  Supercomputing, High-Performance Computing (HPC), quantum computing or its related fields. 

  • Technical Depth and Novelty that demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject matter, offering in-depth technical content, which may include novel ideas, techniques, or approaches that push the boundaries of current practices in supercomputing and HPC.

  • Practical Applicability that includes hands-on sessions where participants can practice techniques or use tools are highly encouraged.

  • Quality of Presentation and Engagement by including objectives, key topics, learning outcomes and interactive elements (e.g., Q&A sessions, discussions) to engage the audience and enhance learning.

  • Instructor Expertise with a tutorial led by one or more instructors with proven expertise in the subject matter, evidenced by publications, industry experience, or prior presentations.

  • Impact and Outcomes should be clearly defined through learning objectives that participants are expected to achieve by the end of the tutorial, and enhanced by the availability of post-tutorial materials (e.g., slides, code repositories) that attendees can refer to for further learning.

Evaluation and Notification 

Proposals will be reviewed based on relevance, clarity, originality, practical applicability, and the presenter’s expertise. Accepted tutorials will be notified by email, and further instructions will be provided for preparing final materials.
